Stephanie Sacks, Ph.D.

Stephanie Sacks, Ph.D., is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy for trauma and stressor-related disorders, anxiety disorders, OCD and mood disorders. She holds an appointment as an Adjunct Professor at Nova Southeastern University.

 
 

Dr. Sacks graduated with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Miami in 2012. She completed her predoctoral internship at the APA-Accredited Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center and completed an APA-Accredited Postdoctoral Fellowship in Trauma at the Washington DC VA Medical Center (DCVAMC). Dr. Sacks has worked as a Staff Psychologist at the DCVAMC Trauma Treatment Program, and later worked at the renowned Capital Institute for Cognitive Therapy in Washington DC, where she provided evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy to individuals with a wide range of mental health difficulties. She is a member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, the International OCD Foundation and the Florida Psychological Association.

Dr. Sacks is an expert in the area of Traumatic Stress, and has trained with experts in the field of PTSD. She is a National Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD Trainer and Consultant, and is a Quality Rated Provider of Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD and a Veterans Affairs Health System Certified Provider in Prolonged Exposure therapy for PTSD. She has led numerous national and international workshops, trainings and webinars in a multitude of settings, including scientific conferences, educational institutions, hospitals, state-funded organizations and at the National Center for PTSD.

Dr. Sacks is developing a sub-specialty in working with journalists who are exposed to occupational chronic stress and trauma. She has a strong appreciation for the role of journalism in society, and consider it a privilege to work with news professionals. She has received training from the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma on the professional culture and occupational challenges of journalists. In addition to using HIPAA-compliant telehhealth software, she has also received training from the Freedom of the Press Foundation on best practices for digital security when using telehealth technology.

Dr. Sacks is also expert in the treatment of Anxiety Disorders and Obsessive-Compulsive-Spectrum Disorders. She has received extensive training in the provision of Exposure-Based therapies, such as Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD.
